Reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor as a key member of the University Leadership Team, the new PVC (Research) will be responsible for the leadership of all aspects of the University’s research strategy as well as championing the research agenda and ensuring that opportunities are developed and embraced. You will do this by setting a clear direction and by briefing, motivating and evaluating the performance of colleagues engaged in research, including those who provide key support services.
Ideal candidates must bring a strong personal research track record, a proven ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at the highest level, an interdisciplinary mindset, and a collegiate and rigorous approach. You must have the credibility to work across disciplines and to understand policy impact, and will have a clear sense of what excellence in global research looks like and how this should be applied at the University of Leicester. Negotiation and persuasion skills will be critical, as will the ability to inspire. You must also bring energy, drive, pace of delivery and vision to this agenda.
