The Wellcome Centre for Cell Biology at the University of Edinburgh is seeking a skilled bioinformatician to join our bioinformatics core facility. You will possess expertise in developing bioinformatics pipelines for high throughput sequencing technologies and will be responsible for building workflows using the latest analysis tools and novel software. Experience with Linux system administration and/or high-performance computing is advantageous. You will work closely with other members of the core facility team and liaise with researchers to develop custom workflows within a standard framework for reproducible analysis. You should enjoy working independently, as well as part of a team, and thrive in a working environment that requires adaptability. This post provides opportunities to work with many types of biological data and collaborate with a broad spectrum of centre research projects. There is also scope to be involved in bioinformatics training and practical workshops for university and centre members.

You should hold a Master degree or higher in bioinformatics, computing science or a related discipline with expertise in at least one programming language. Diverse knowledge of bioinformatics tools and analysis techniques is desirable and the candidate should be enthusiastic, versatile and willing to enhance their skill set.

The post is fixed term until 30 November 2021.
