The Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology (CCRCB) sits within the School of Medicine Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences CCRCB is the beating heart of a comprehensive cancer research programme in Belfast, focused on accelerating the delivery of scientific discovery to clinical application.  CCRCB is the research hub of the Belfast Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC), operating in partnership with the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.

We are recruiting for a Research Fellow who will be based within the radiotherapy physics service in the NI Cancer Centre and will participate in scientific research activities in radiation onocology physics.

The successful candidate will work in collaboration with physics, clinical and radiographic staff at the Northern Ireland Cancer Centre and CCRCB communicating research results.

Among other aspects of the role, the Research Fellow will provide scientific support and expertise to the development and implementation of new advanced treatment techniques and technologies in the NI Cancer Centre.

The successful candidate must have:

  • An Honours degree (second class or higher) or equivalent, in Physics or other appropriate science subject
  • Have or be about to obtain a PhD in physical science mathematics or computer science.
  • Relevant research experience to include 2 years research experience in an area of physics related to radiation science or in area requiring advance computational skills
  • Experience in programming in advanced scientific languages e.g. MatLab, Idl ETC
