The Institute of Future Transport and Cities at Coventry University is looking for an exceptional candidate who is highly motivated, persistent and confident in pursuing pioneering solutions. The successful candidate will be excited about exploring the topic beyond current conventions and to challenge both industry and academia with fresh thinking. They will work in the Materials, Mechanics and Measurements Group using all the opportunities and facilities of the University as well as developing external national and international collaborations. This is a permanent staff position in a group developing a world class research presence that generates impact across many sectors.

Applicants should have, as a minimum, a PhD degree in Materials Science, Applied Physics, Engineering, or a closely related subject. Experience of bidding for, winning, working on, and contributing to managing research projects is required. Experience of teaching and supervising student project work is desirable.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter and able to communicate with researchers, engineers, designers and technologists in industry and academia at all levels. You must be able to take a leading role in developing industrial and academic collaboration and work within a team to develop successful funding proposals and ensure that projects are managed to deliver high quality and timely deliverables suitable for submission to the REF and to generate impact in industry and society. The ambition to succeed in a competitive arena is essential.
