The Department of Legal Studies at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for an Assistant Professor with expertise in intellectual property law. Applicants interested in the implications of intellectual property protection for global justice (e.g. protection of local/indigenous knowledge and practices, big pharma) are strongly preferred. The initial contract is for four years.
The Department of Legal Studies provides advanced legal education and education in human rights, comparative constitutional law and international business law. Its programs are among the finest in Europe, enabling students to obtain a solid grounding in fundamental legal concepts in civil law and common law systems and to develop unique skills in comparative analysis. The successful candidate is expected to have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Courses on all these subjects are expected to offer comparative perspectives, covering relevant international, North American and European dimensions. Additional expertise in the laws of the Global South is an asset.
The initial appointment will be in Budapest, teaching will be both in Budapest and Vienna at the beginning. From 2020/2021 CEU is expected to relocate its teaching fully to Vienna.
