The MRC Epidemiology Unit is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant in Public Health Modelling.
This position is based in the Unit's Public Health Modelling team. The primary role of this post is to support the work of the Public Health Modelling programme in cleaning and analysing travel survey and road traffic injury data (including with GIS methods), and assisting with the development of our health impact models (primarily in R).

The MRC Epidemiology Unit is a department within the University of Cambridge's School of Clinical Medicine and is situated within the Institute of Metabolic Science on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Its mission is to study the genetic, developmental and environmental factors that cause obesity, diabetes and related metabolic disorders and develop strategies for their prevention. The Unit benefits from a number of large-scale, cross programme epidemiological studies with detailed datasets allowing a wide range of research from genetics to public health. Highly experienced information teams and other specialist teams support the scientists in the delivery of their research aims.
The successful candidate will have (or be about to complete) a qualification in a relevant subject at postgraduate level. Applicants will have proven programming and quantitative skills (including with GIS methods), and an understanding of the complex relationships between transport, the built environment, and health. Experience in health impact modelling (or assessment) and of working with travel survey and/or traffic injury data is desirable.
