Research England has been established as a new council within UKRI whose aim is to create and sustain the conditions for a healthy and dynamic research and knowledge exchange system in English universities.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Insight and Engagement Team as an Associate Director.
About the role
The Associate Director of Insight and Engagement is a key role for Research England (RE) involving a high degree of strategic understanding, external visibility and autonomous working. As well as maintaining overall responsibility for our Insight and Engagement functions, this role leads on emerging issues relating to RE’s role and relationships, responding to risks and opportunities to ensure that we are well-placed in a changing policy and funding environment.
As well as providing strategic direction and leadership to ensure that we are well positioned with stakeholders, you will also make sure that RE understands and responds to stakeholders’ views and context particularly on university issues. You will be defining and developing Research England’s strategic partnership with the Office for Students as well as leading on university engagement to provide routine and effective two-way channels of communication with English universities.
You will have proven experience of creating and leading strategic engagement across multiple partners along with a diverse stakeholder base. With an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the UK research and higher education policy environment, including experience in research or knowledge exchange policy, you will have the ability to operate with political understanding. You will have a demonstrable skill to adapt, reach out and build trust and collaborative working and the ability to innovate and challenge established thinking in self and others. Excellent listening, influencing and negotiating skills are essential along with the ability to communicate in a succinct, engaging and convincing way.
