Profile

The Cambridge University Nanjing Centre of Technology and Innovation(hereinafter referred to as the Center) is the first joint venture research institute established by the University of Cambridge outside the UK. The Cambridge University Nanjing Centre of Technology and Innovation Co., Ltd., established by the University of Cambridge and the Jiangbei New Area, is responsible for the operation and management of the Center.In the process of operation, the Center will be committed to integrating high-end research system and expert team of University of Cambridge with local Chinese research institutes and expert teams, aiming at the world's forefront of science and technology, which effectively connects international innovation resources with the needs of Nanjing City and Jiangbei New Area, comprehensively improving the level of regional scientific and technological innovation and results transformation efficiency. In addition, the Center will seek more extensive and deeper scientific research partnerships with national resources.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow Positions

The Center is now seeking applications for Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions to join the Medical Imaging group led by Professor Richard Prager and Dr. Nghia Nguyen. Successful candidates will work on a number of exciting ultrasound imaging projects, including developing image processing algorithms to enhance ultrasound image quality and overall performance, conducting simulation and numerical studies of wave propagation and scattering with the goal of designing next generation of ultrasound imaging systems, and developing segmentation and registration between 3-D ultrasound and other modalities such as X-ray CT, MRI. Results of the research will be (1) implemented on commercial systems, provided by local companies, or (2) presented in peer-reviewed journals and at international conferences. Funding for the position is available for 12 months at the first instance with possibilities of extensions depending upon performance.

Requirements

Applicants must have a PhD or be about to submit a PhD in the field of engineering, physics, or related discipline. He/she must have at least two journal publications with one of them involving ultrasound imaging. A strong background in signal processing and fluent in both English and Mandarin are also required, as well as proficiency in Matlab and C/C++ programming. Knowledge of some or all of following would also be advantages: numerical modeling of wave propagation and scattering, parallel programming especially on GPU cards, familiar with some image registration toolkits, good knowledge on machine learning/deep learning algorithms.
