We are looking for a Senior/Support Scientist to join the B23 Beamline [diamond.ac.uk] for Synchrotron Radiation Circular Dichroism (SRCD) that is part of the Soft Condensed Matter Village at Diamond Light Source Ltd. B23 is designed to measure high quality SRCD spectra of a broad range of chiral materials from Life Sciences (peptides, proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids and drugs) to Physical Science (polymers, optoelectronic molecules like OLED and OPV) in both solution and solid state. Due to its highly collimated microbeam, B23 is the only beamline worldwide capable of conducting high-throughput screening using multiplates and CD imaging of thin chiral films at the highest spatial resolution also using the Mueller Matrix Polarimeter (MMP).

This is creating further opportunities for innovation and research that crosses the boundaries between these two communities.

You will have the opportunity to be part of the beamline team in developing novel capabilities and applications at the B23 beamline including development of hardware, software and workflows.

You will be part of a world-class facility working closely with internal staff and external scientists and will be able to communicate with teams of technicians, engineers and software support.

A hands-on attitude and a flexible approach are very important to be able to cope with the dynamics of the task. You will be actively working at the beamline and in the support labs although some office work will be required at times.
