UCC wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Education within the School of Education, specialising in the area of English as an Additional Language (EAL).  Reporting to the Head of School, the successful candidate will hold a doctorate or equivalent in Education or cognate area (or evidence of adequate advance towards this) and a teaching qualification recognised by the Teaching Council of Ireland. S/he will demonstrate a broad curricular understanding of the Education sector and provide evidence of at least 5 years teaching experience in the Irish school system, with expertise and experience in the English as an Additional Language (EAL) area, as well as in the school subject and curricular areas supported by the School of Education, UCC.  In addition, the successful candidate will have experience in the initial education of teachers and will demonstrate how their competence and expertise in the English as an Additional Language (EAL) area can contribute to and extend the suite of programmes offered by the School of Education, including how s/he might best support the tutoring of student teachers on school placement.

Evidence of research expertise in the English as an Additional Language (EAL) area as well as in the discipline of education generally and contribution to the broader field of education would also be requisite for appointment to the post.

Appointment will be made on the Lecturer Below the Bar Salary Scale, €33,481 – €59,132 (Scale B); €35,321 - €56,267 (Scale A); OR Lecturer Above the Bar Salary Scale, €64,627 - €83,096 (Scale B); €61,487 - €79,068 (Scale A).
