The University of Sheffield’s Finance Department are seeking an innovative and experienced leader to join our high performing leadership team. This senior position in the Department provides an excellent opportunity to take a lead role in maximising the Finance Department’s effectiveness and ongoing contribution to the wider success of the University. The Assistant Director (Financial Management) will be a key member of this team and have responsibility for the effective delivery of a high quality financial support service to the University, its Faculties and Professional Services. The role will also lead on the identification and delivery of system improvements and changes across the department in order to deliver maximum value and effectiveness from the department’s operations.

We are looking for a candidate with a proven record of leading high performing, collaborative teams within a complex HEI or large public sector organisation and a strong background in Financial Management. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with substantial post qualification experience, outstanding interpersonal skills and will demonstrate an aptitude to collaborative working. A strong capacity to engage across Faculties, Professional Services and external partners is key to success as is the experience of forming and maintaining effective internal partnerships and networks. Ideally the candidate will have a strong background in overseeing financial systems such as maximising the functionality and capabilities of existing systems and overseeing successful implementation of new IT systems.
