The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance - Disability & Wellbeing Team

The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) is seeking an exceptional candidate to join the Student Services Team as a part-time Mental Health Adviser.

Located in the heart of London’s live music scene, ICMP is an independent, specialist provider of higher education programmes in contemporary music. Working within the Disability & Wellbeing Team, the post holder will primarily be responsible for providing expert advice, guidance and support, on an individual or group basis, to disabled students. They will manage a caseload of students with mental health conditions that impact on emotional wellbeing, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and autistic spectrum conditions. They will encourage and support students to apply for Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA) and arrange access to support recommended in needs assessment reports. They will support the development, organisation, promotion and evaluation of the service and will implement changes under guidance from the Head of Student Services where appropriate. The post holder is expected to keep up-to-date with developments across the sector and to identify good practices in supporting student need within an HE environment.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and committed higher education professional, with a proven track-record of delivering high quality disability support in the area of mental health and ensuring complex cases are responded to and dealt with appropriately. They will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work in a proactive, independent manner and demonstrate resilience and empathy for students managing ongoing and complex difficulties.
