About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with staff and students across the University community to support the Equality Objectives and raise the profile of equality, diversity and inclusion across the organisation.
Reporting to the Director of HR, and working closely with the Chair of the Equality and Diversity Steering Group, you will be the central point of co-ordination in supporting a broad range of activities that promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
One of the current responsibilities will be supporting the activities recently agreed in our well attended staff and student Equality Forum that was arranged in response to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Joining our welcoming community, who are committed to making a difference, you will be organising events and workshops, supporting staff networks, and working with all levels of our staff, our students and external bodies. You will be monitoring our progress, innovating where possible and making sure you are well connected to ensure we are responsive to demands and at the forefront of best practise.
Bath Spa University is focussed on creative enterprise and guided by our four values of respect, inclusivity, collaboration and sustainability. We teach around 8,000 students on a set of campuses around Bath, with most being located at Newton Park, including a listed Georgian house and grounds, or Locksbrook Road, our new city-centre art and design campus. Our research centres focus on creative industries and humanities.
Our purpose is to challenge our students and staff to realise their talent and thrive, for their own benefit and for the wider good. By doing this we will think and make the world better.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, make connections easily and inspire others to engage in equality activities. They will be able to analyse and interpret data and present conclusions and potential actions persuasively both in person and in reports.
They will be well organised, self-motivated and have a firm understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion issues and experience in responding to them in a way that maximises engagement. Their commitment to the equality agenda will be evident.
