1. About Us
The School of Nursing is nationally recognized as one of the prestigious nursing schools in the country, with a tri-fold mission of excellence in nursing education, research and practice. Hospital-based nursing education initiated in 1913 at SYSU when the Nursing School of Bo-ji Hospital was founded. The School of Nursing was founded on May 8, 1998, when the Department of Nursing Science and the Affiliated Health School of Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences (SUMS) merged. It is one of the earliest nursing schools to offer baccalaureate nursing program, Master of Nursing Specialty program and doctoral program in the country.
The School has made a prominent progress in discipline construction, student cultivation, academic research, and international collaboration. Its nursing subject has been in top 3 since 2017 in “Best Chinese Subjects Ranking” and in top 100 in “Global Ranking of Academic Subjects” since 2018, released by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy.
Its faculty is comprised of academic staff and clinical staff from 10 affiliated hospitals of SYSU. Two academic staff members are Chinese Most Cited Researchers released by Elsevier, one is FAAN member, and one is a member of “100 Talents Program” of SYSU. Currently, there are 210 full-time undergraduates, and 184 full-time and part-time postgraduates in the School.
The School has been very active in academic exchanges and continual cooperation with prestigious universities in China (including Hong Kong and Macao) and those from the Sweden, USA, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, and Nepal, etc. The School has established collaborative partnerships with those university nursing schools. In the process of collaboration, the School has gradually improved its nursing education level and quality. In March 2016, the School, together with School of Nursing in Johns Hopkins University, School of Nursing in Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Faculty of Heath in University of Technology Sydney, established Global Consortium for Chronic Care Research Center. The Centre has provided a high-level platform for professional talent cultivation and research cooperation.
The School, dedicated itself to improving the quality of talent cultivation, research level and social influence, is striving to build its nursing discipline to a first-class level in the country and a much more influential level in the world.

3. Qualifications
Have comparatively great academic potentials and achieved comparatively great research results by publishing no less than two outstanding academic works in principle; for those who have made particularly significant achievements, the number of their works could be reduced to one; be an outstanding doctoral student or postdoctor from a well-known domestic or international higher education institute or research institute.
