In association with Worcester and St John’s Colleges and the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages
Christ Church, Worcester College, St John’s College and the Faculty of Modern Languages, propose to elect a Fixed Term Studentship (i.e. Fellowship) in Italian, for a period of three years, with effect from 01 October 2021. The person appointed will become a member of the Governing Body of Christ Church as a ‘Fixed Term Student’ (‘Student’ is the term for a Fellow at Christ Church). The post is associated with a College Lecturership at Worcester College and St John’s College.
The successful applicant, who will have a good first degree in Italian and should have completed a doctorate in the subject by 01 October 2021, will be required to give up to six hours of tutorial teaching each week in the modern period of Italian literature for teaching Prelims Papers III and IV, and in the modern papers in FHS (VIII and XI). Some capacity to teach Dante (FHS, Paper IX) is also welcome. The Student will also be expected to undertake advanced study or research.
It is expected that the appointee will be made a member of the Modern Languages Faculty, and the College will require them (by arrangement with the Faculty of Modern Languages) to offer one course of eight lectures or classes in the modern period each year in the Faculty.
The salary offered will be on the scale £27,511-£29,176 p.a. (current rates). Appointments are usually made on the first point of the scale. The appointee will be eligible for either free, single accommodation in Christ Church, or a housing allowance of £10,000 p.a. (current rates).
Further Particulars and guidance on how to apply are available from the college website (http://www.chch.ox.ac.uk/vacancies).
The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon on 31 March 2021.
