Who is Staffordshire University?
Staffordshire University is an award-winning institution with over 100 years’ experience in delivering excellent higher education. Our main Stoke-on-Trent campus is located in the heart of the UK, with Centres of Excellence located in the towns of Stafford and Shrewsbury.
After a highly successful year in 2019, which included entering THE World University rankings for the first time, securing TEF Gold, and climbing in all the league tables, our University has constantly expanded its physical presence through new and industry-leading building developments and facilities. Looking towards our 2030 strategy, we are now transforming specific business processes to improve the student experience and integrate a wider feeling of inclusion and safety for our on-campus community.
About the role
Staffordshire Business School is seeking to make a new appointment of a Work Based Education Officer (0.5 FTE) to join our growing team. We are pleased to receive applications from interested candidates with a strong experience of apprenticeship standards. The successful candidate will have the ability to deliver an excellent student experience, have a commitment to pastoral care and will be ideally educated to degree level.
The post holder will be responsible for the timely and quality of tripartite progress reviews for apprentices. With a commitment to pastoral care the postholder will be required to quickly understand and interpret complex and challenging situations, and then work to either resolve the specific issue or provide relevant information and advice or referral.
They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an active willingness to learn and adapt innovative ways of working. Furthermore, they will be a team player with an enthusiastic and positive approach to work and possess excellent IT skills, experience of working with Microsoft Office applications and Virtual learning environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for visiting learners in employment to provide comprehensive support in their work-based education and/or apprenticeship development. There will be the requirement of regular travel to other sites across Staffordshire and Shropshire, therefore candidates must hold a full UK driving licence, have access to a road-worthy vehicle and be prepared to travel when required as some of the sites are not accessible via public transport.
The successful candidate should have a sincere interest and understanding of the needs of students, and be able to communicate effectively with residents, university staff and external bodies.
As a member of our team, we expect you to exhibit Staffordshire University values in your ‘brilliant and friendly’ attitude and your ‘curious and daring’ approach to teaching. As well as contributing to the apprenticeship learning journey you will ensure you contribute towards Business School’s strategic priorities.
In return for your dedication, we have a competitive benefits package available
