International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is growing in size and influence in pursuit of its vision to be a leading international business school. The school is based on strong principles of internationalism, innovation, inspiration and integrity, which together ensure that we have a positive impact on society through our teaching, research and business engagement. In that pursuit, IBSS became the youngest business school to be accredited from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 2016, and again, the youngest School to receive EQUIS accreditation in 2018. Receiving joint accreditation of AMBA and BGA in 2020, IBSS became the 103rd triple accredited business school in the world.

IBSS delivers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA, PhD and Executive Education programmes in the fields of Economics, Management, Accounting and Finance. BA Accounting programme has received professional accreditations from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), and it is the first undergraduate programme in China to have obtained both 9 ACCA exemptions and 12 CIMA exemptions. MSc Professional Accounting programme has received professional accreditation from ICAEW with 12 ACA exemptions. MSc Investment Management programme has received professional recognition from the Certified Financial Analysts Institute (CFA). The Finance Department currently offers two MSc programmes (MSc Finance, MSc Investment Management). In addition, the MSc Multinational Finance is being resumed, and a new MSc Financial Technology and Innovation is being launched.
Responsibilities and Duties
XJTLU is a research-led university and correspondingly, International Business School Suzhou is a research-led business school. In this context, even though the workload of faculty in IBSS is generally shared between teaching, research, and service, academic staffs are expected to spend the majority of their time on research, followed by teaching, then service. Research activities include the publication of research articles, attendance of international conferences, and applications for research funding. Research performance in the School is benchmarked on internationally recognised lists of journal quality such as the Academic Journal Guide (UK) – a.k.a. the ABS list – and the ABDC list (AUS). The target levels on those lists are ABS3/ABDC: A or above.
While we are particularly interested in applicants with an interest or expertise in FinTech, we also welcome applicants with an expertise in corporate finance, asset pricing, financial econometrics, risk management, and other sub-fields.
Have a proven record of academic publications in good journals (ABS3+/ABDC-A+), plus a strong pipeline of promising research
Desirable Qualification and Experiences
Members of Academic Staff receive generous subsidies for accommodation, travel, children’s education, and medical insurance. A relocation allowance is provided. Non-Chinese passport holders may qualify for multi-year income tax “holidays”, depending on nationality and tax residency.
Citizenship and Visa Regulations
Employment at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is regulated by Chinese Labour Laws, and must comply with the regulations of the provincial government.
