Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for a research administrator to join an active research group with an international reputation in experimental medicine research particularly in the context of hypoglycaemia as a complication of insulin therapy. The post is to assist with the coordination and implementation of the Hypo-METRICS project, part of the Hypo-RESOLVE consortium. The main aim of the project will be to evaluate the impact of asymptomatic biochemical hypoglycaemia on biomedical, patient reported and health economic outcomes. The study will recruit over 600 participants with insulin treated diabetes across 8 centres in the UK and Europe. The post holder will work alongside a project manager, clinical research fellow, clinical research nurse and data analyst. The post-holder will be responsible for providing support to the research team, liaise with the other study centres, and provide administrative support. Training in the necessary procedures will be available.

The post holder is a member of the School’s professional services team, providing high quality general administrative support to the School and specific support to the Diabetes research group. 

  • To provide smooth and efficient day-to-day operational support to staff and students in the diabetes research group working closely with the School’s core team to provide local support for research grant applications, post-award support, local staff and student recruitment campaigns, processing of claims and invoices
  • To act as the primary point of contact for support services, arranging maintenance of shared and allocated equipment and other resources including printers
  • To maintain shared resources, including stationery and other supplies
  • To use and support the university’s electronic record systems, ensuring data are accurate and consistent across all data sources, responding to information requests from staff and central functions, being mindful of data protection
  • To prepare communications, draft presentations, briefing documents and background materials as required
  • To take responsibility for planning and organising events/ functions and projects, including planning and organising visits by external/international delegates
  • To undertake research and data analysis when required to inform decisions and work priorities
  • To prepare and support meetings, boards, and committees, including the coordination and distribution of papers, organising events and taking notes or minutes, as required

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 10 months and will cover a 6-9 months maternity leave.
