We are seeking to appoint a highly regarded Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (one post – appointment grade dependent upon experience) in Pharmaceutical Chemical Biology to join the dynamic and vibrant School of Pharmacy.
The School of Pharmacy is within the College of Medical and Dental Sciences facilitating interdisciplinary working (including collaboration with clinical colleagues enabling translational and clinically-facing projects). It is expected that the post will also involve collaboration with other Colleges in the university (notably Engineering and Physical Sciences (Chemistry) and Life and Environmental Sciences (Biosciences) together with wider collaborations nationally and internationally.
The successful candidate will make a substantial, key impact on the diversification of existing research themes developing research in chemical biology associated with therapeutics. This can involve elucidating disease pathways, the impact of novel or repurposed therapeutic agents on disease and/or manipulating endogenous pathways for therapeutic outcomes. The successful applicant will have experience and skills that complement the core research themes of the College with particular emphasis on the areas of therapy of cancer and inflammation.
Post-holders will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate Pharmacy taught programmes focussing initially on the delivery of quality teaching and assessment across all years of the MPharm courses and in line with the new training standards.
Brief Person Spec
Applicants to this post should have a background in Pharmaceutical Chemical Biology and possess a relevant PhD with experience, skills and competence in research and learning and teaching relevant to a Pharmacy School.
A proven, significant track record of high quality peer-reviewed publications, success in gaining external grant funding, doctoral supervision and teaching delivery is essential for appointment at Senior Lecturer level.
