We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in the field of Medical/Health Education (Teaching and Scholarship or Teaching and Research) who will have the skills and experience to be Hull York Medical School’s (www.hyms.ac.uk) Director of Assessment (anticipated 0.5 FTE for this role) and contribute to a diverse portfolio of teaching and research activities within the Hull York Medical School and the Health Professions Education Unit.
This is an exciting time to join the School as it goes through the biggest expansion in its history. The School has a highly successful MB BS Programme, MB BS with a Gateway Year programme, MSc in Physician Associate Studies, MSc in Health Professions Education and a portfolio of other post-graduate taught programmes.
The post is a full time open ended appointment at Senior Lecturer level. We are seeking an applicant from a clinical or non-clinical background and would make the appointment on either a Teaching and Research or Teaching and Scholarship contract. 0.5 FTE is available for clinical, research or scholarship activity. We would consider making an appointment at Reader level for an appropriate candidate.
Role – (please refer to the specific job descriptions for each role)
You will provide strategic and operational leadership in the development and delivery of assessment in the School working closely with the Directors of the MB BS and MSc Physician Associate Studies programmes and the Chairs of the MB BS and Post-Graduate Boards of Examiners.
You will engage with external bodies to contribute to the national development of assessment policy and practices in medical education and ensure that assessment practices in the Medical School align with recognised best practice.
You will provide operational leadership to the Professional Services Support team and Academic staff to ensure that the School has robust quality assurance processes that underpin the development, delivery and review of assessment across all the School’s programmes
