Computer Science Teaching Position for Spring 2022 term available at the University of Notre Dame (USA) in England.
The University of Notre Dame, a Catholic research university that ranks in the top 20 among American colleges and universities, operates an academic center in the heart of Westminster to promote intellectual exchange through conferences, seminars and events, as well as its academic program for undergraduate students.
The University of Notre Dame’s London Undergraduate Program seeks an instructor able to teach an advanced elective in computer science. Examples of such electives include Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Human-Computer Interaction, and Artificial Intelligence. Candidates may propose elective classes in other advanced areas of computer science.
The proposed class will require approximately three hours of teaching per week over an academic semester of 14 weeks in length. Duties include delivery of course materials via traditional lectures, frequent (approximately weekly) assignment and assessment of student work, conducting and grading a final exam, and allocating time for assistance outside of course lecture hours.
This class forms part of the curriculum for Computer Science students at the University of Notre Dame, and runs in parallel with the same courses on campus. Collaboration with the faculty members teaching other computer science classes during the semester will be expected.
Requirements: A Masters degree and university teaching experience in a relevant subject area are required for this position. A PhD is strongly preferred. Candidates must already have the right to work in the UK.
Teaching commitment: The class will meet twice a week for 14 teaching weeks between January and early May, on either a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday pattern. In addition, instructors are expected to make themselves available for some additional office hours for their students, as well as completing all marking, etc.
Dates for Spring 2022 semester: 10th January, to April 29th. (Easter break will be the bank holidays only)
The salary for this position will be commensurate with level of academic experience and the teaching load of the class, in the range of £6,650-£10,000.
This post is conditional on the University of Notre Dame being able to run study abroad in London in Spring 2022.
