Ravensbourne students actively engage with experimental live projects and cross-disciplinary design briefs to create ideas and designs for future urban living fit for the 21st Century.

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic and innovative educator to provide leadership in design and technology subjects in the Department of Architecture. This will entail

  1. setting creative agendas around the role of spatial design in the 21st Century
  2. taking responsibility for ensuring high quality teaching and learning.
  3. supporting recruitment of students to the course
  4. achieving and maintaining learning and assessment standards and
  5. meeting progression targets in accordance with institutional strategies and regulations.

Working closely with the Course Leader of Architecture and Head of the Department, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility of one of the UG levels in the Department of Architecture, supporting the Master of Architecture and be involved in cross-disciplinary activities across Ravensbourne.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate significant professional knowledge of and experience in spatial design and/or architecture and the architectural profession together with academic teaching experience. She/he will have a first degree or post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject, and should be able to demonstrate a strong teaching record. The candidate will possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to engage students directly with their chosen industry will be essential. HEA accreditation or a PGCE is desirable.

Applicants should also have thorough knowledge of architectural history and theory and current practice, an interest in emerging technologies and familiarity with the use of virtual learning environments and associated teaching methodologies. A detailed understanding and experience of the meaning and process of professional accreditation – in particular for ARB and RIBA – is a bonus.

The successful candidate will develop and apply innovative and effective teaching methods, using a variety of different resources/materials, contributing also Ravensbourne’s approach to developing the teaching of creative disciplines.
