The Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education (ACE) brings together three highly successful and vibrant disciplines that are well-established within the University of the West of England.
The ACE Specialist Systems Support team provide support for the specialist creative applications and hardware which the faculty relies on to deliver these aims. Along with directly supporting these systems we provide a bridge between the faculty and central IT Services team, working with colleagues to develop innovative solutions and explore new technologies.
As a Specialist Systems Engineer, you will be experienced in providing technical support for a wide range of IT based systems. You will have significant experience of supporting Windows based devices, where this role is primarily focused, however it is important to be adaptable and able to provide support to other areas of the IT estate, such as macOS and iOS devices and mobile device management systems when required.
You will be able to support and maintain software configurations and hardware installations in the student and staff environment and provide a pro-active response to issues as they arise.
You will have knowledge of the equipment and technologies used in the creative industries or experience of a technical support role in the education sector.
You will be confident leading small projects, for example researching and implementing the use of virtual and mixed reality technologies or reviewing the faculty’s existing systems and making recommendations for improvements.
This is a role which provides a great deal of variety in the projects you will be working on. You will have the opportunity to work with highly creative colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds.
