The Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) team is located within Learning Services in the Library. PAL normally takes the form of regular, timetabled group study sessions or workshops led by PAL Leaders. These sessions provide opportunities for student participants to consolidate their understanding of a discipline and develop their study skills and resilience within a safe and collaborative environment. PAL Leaders scaffold and support sessions to ensure learners make the most of their time together. 

About the role: 

The day to day running of the university-wide Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) scheme provides:

  • a wide range of administrative support, including the day to day management of the generic PAL inbox and fielding the numerous queries from PAL Leaders and academic staff.
  • specific support to PAL Leaders and Senior PAL Leaders, including assisting with their onboarding, training and development.
  • regular updates to our primary stakeholders, in particular PAL Coordinators and student participants.

In the role, you will be involved in the monitoring and evaluation of PAL provision as well as maintaining databases as necessary in order to support our PAL schemes e.g. processing PAL Leader pay claims.

About you: 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is self-organised, quick to learn and very confident with IT; who is able to manage competing priorities, resolve problems and work relatively independently.

To succeed in this role:

  • A wide range of administrative experience
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Forming and maintaining effective working relationships with various stakeholders.

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus.

This is a part-time, permanent post, working 18.5 hours per week.

The University’s normal practice is that new appointments will be made at the starting point of the grade.
