The Department of Genetics is a world-class research and teaching environment with strengths in quantitative approaches to genomics, population and evolutionary genetics, and cell and developmental biology. We particularly welcome applications from individuals working in the areas of developmental genetics, genome biology, human or microbial genetics, relating to or complementing our existing research programmes, details of which can be found on our Group Leaders webpage (https://www.gen.cam.ac.uk/directory/group-leaders)
Shortlisted applicants will have a PhD in a relevant subject area and show evidence of leading a successful research programme. Applicants will also have an aptitude and enthusiasm for teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level and will be expected to contribute to teaching and other academic activities in the Department. They will contribute to the design and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate lecture courses, and perform other academic duties such as Departmental administration, examinations and other forms of assessment.
Appointment will be made at University Assistant Professor level with a starting salary in the range of £42,149 - £53,348 per annum.
The Department is committed to the Athena SWAN Charter to provide equal opportunities and to advance the representation of women and other under-represented groups in science. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates irrespective of gender or ethnicity but, as women and individuals from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds are currently under-represented at this level, we strongly encourage applications from such candidates. Appointment will be based on merit alone. As a signatory of DORA (https://sfdora.org) the Department is committed to assessing research on its own merits rather than on the basis of the journal in which it is published.
