Based in one of the UK's largest legal hubs, in a great global city, Manchester Metropolitan University's Law School offers outstanding opportunities for experienced qualified lawyers to make the move into higher education for a fulfilling role in shaping and supporting the next generation of legal professionals.
Manchester Law School, is a leading modern university law school, recognised in the UK and internationally for generating transformative social change through law. We integrate high-quality practitioner expertise, educational excellence and world-leading research in key areas.
The School has strong relationships across the Northern Circuit and with leading law firms. We work closely with organisations including the CPS, Support for Courts and the Greater Manchester Law Centre. These relationships support an extensive pro bono network, mentoring schemes and networking opportunities for our students.
The School seeks to invest in its continued provision of outstanding professional programmes with a range of opportunities for excellent candidates holding either barrister or solicitor qualifications to contribute primarily, in the first instance, on the LPC. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the School's plans for its future provision of professional programmes post-LPC. These opportunities offer an incredibly fulfilling role within a university environment, playing a part in helping shape and support future members of the legal profession.
We value professional experience and potential candidates will include qualified lawyers who do not necessarily have teaching experience, but can demonstrate a commitment to obtain a teaching qualification and possess equivalent significant practice. The role will allow successful candidates to step away from the day to day practice and draw on their skills and experience to stimulate, inspire and support the next generation of practitioners.
We have broad needs and will require from this recruitment round successful candidates with a broadly Civil or Criminal Practice focus - the ability to contribute to business and commercial subject areas or Family Law would be an advantage. We would also welcome applications from those following innovative and alternative legal career pathways, in particular, legal technologists, knowledge managers and professional support lawyers.
There are also opportunities to contribute to other programmes within the School as required.
This is an exciting time to join Manchester Law School. We have recently made a number of outstanding research focused appointments, work has just been completed on a new Moot Court facility in the heart of the School and our external engagement continues to grow through international research collaborations and an expanding pro bono network. We recently marked fifty years since our first students graduated. You can play a key role in contributing to the School's future success as it looks ahead to the next fifty years.
To apply, please submit your CV and Covering Letter via our application portal. For informal enquiries, please contact Andrew Francis (Head of School) on Andrew.Francis@mmu.ac.uk.
