About the Role
The role will involve the laboratory study of the molecular complexity observed in space by means of state-of-the-art experiments at FELIX Laboratory in the Netherlands (www.ru.nl/felix), where an ultra-high vacuum end-station is managed by Dr. Ioppolo and collaborators. The candidate will be based in the Antennas Group at QMUL (http://www.eecs.qmul.ac.uk) working in close collaboration with Dr. Ioppolo’s and Prof. Redlich’s research groups (https://antennas.eecs.qmul.ac.uk/research-showcases/sergio-ioppolo/, https://www.ru.nl/felix/research/research-program/felix-infrared-thz-spectroscopy-research-group/). This post is supported by the Royal Society.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent) in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy or related disciplines. Practical hands-on experience with laboratory ice experiments and ultra-high vacuum equipment is essential for this position. Experience with IR, THz spectroscopy, ultra-fast laser systems, mass spectrometry, and programming in Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB is desirable.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a full time (35 hours per week), fixed term post for 13 months. The starting salary will be £34,733 per annum (Grade 4), inclusive of London Allowance. The successful candidate is expected to be in post by 1 December 2021 or as soon as feasible after this date.
