The LSS team provides front-line support services to ICR scientists at Chelsea and Sutton, including collection of dirty glassware, wash up and sterilization, biohazard waste collection, sterilization and disposal, specialist sterilization, pure water supply, media preparations and other similar duties.
The post holder will lead the laboratory media production facility; promote and expand the services; ensure high-quality products, service, sustainability and value for money; support the LSS manager in providing all services.
Applicants should have in depth knowledge and experience of tissue culture techniques, freezing batches of cells, antiseptic techniques and media components calculations and possess relevant experience working as a scientist in a bio-medical field or working in a laboratory support environment providing services to laboratories in a scientific/medical establishment. Previous experience of managing and developing a team or a large project or number of projects and of setting up and of monitoring contracts using e.g. service level agreements is essential.
The full salary range for the paygrade is £32,775 - £41,400 per annum. Appointments are normally made at the start of the range which represents the market rate for the role but consideration will be given to experience and skills. Future progression is based on annual performance review.
