Key duties and responsibilities

We wish to appoint a Finance Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of the department by providing a prompt and efficient service to staff and students, by helping to support the management of departmental recurrent accounts and sponsor funded research grants and contracts.

You will predominantly be responsible for processing purchase requests and act as the first point of call for all purchasing related queries. In addition, you will also be expected to work closely with other college teams such as accounts payable and accounts receivables, to assist in managing invoice related queries from external suppliers and customers.

Essential requirements

You should have a proven ability to work within a financial environment and preferably have experience of working within the higher education sector.

You should be educated to GCSE level standard or equivalent, possess excellent numerical skills, accuracy and attention to detail, strong IT skills and the ability to manage a high volume of diverse tasks. You should be able to work effectively under pressure and with minimal supervision.
