As part of Cardiff University’s Wellcome Trust Institutional Partnership, Cardiff University’s is seeking a Wellcome Trust Institutional Translation Partnership Award Manager, who will assess the translational science landscape and provide training and advice on translational applications and activities. The posts activities will align with the Translational Research and Impact Officers within the Research Commercialisation and Impact Team within Cardiff’s Research and Innovation Services Department thereby contributing effectively to the delivery of the University’s Innovation Strategy.

The Research Commercialisation and Impact Team provides specialist training, support and advice on translational opportunities, intellectual property, creation of spinout companies and other impact related activities.

The post will involve developing effective working relationships across the University in order to contribute effectively to the delivery of the Innovation Strategy, which sits across a number of areas including civic mission and public engagement, student enterprise and research development. Importantly, the successful candidate will work fluidly across all academic disciplines, engaging with the University’s College of Biomedical & Life Sciences and wider academic schools where appropriate.

The initial focus  will be to engage with Wellcome Trust-funded scientists  with the college of Biomedical and Life Sciences and thereafter rolling out to the wider scientific community. The role holder will be responsible for identifying, influencing and implementing improved approaches to address the bottlenecks, gaps and barriers to translation of Cardiff University research by working with academics and facilitating their interactions with the University's Research Commercialisation and Impact and Research Development teams and appropriate external parties.
