JOB OVERVIEW

The University of Sheffield International College and its programmes are provided by Study Group in collaboration with the University of Sheffield.  We are currently looking for several Pre-Masters Maths Tutors to join The University of Sheffield International College.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this job, you will deliver our Maths provision, teaching groups of international students on our Level 6 programme, both online and face-to-face. Our class sizes are on average around 18 students, and you will be given the autonomy to be innovative and engaging to enhance the learning experience. You will undertake marking and feedback provision on a formative and summative basis, and you will have the chance to support the development of the student’s independent learning.

The ideal candidate should be able to teach on one or more of the following Level 6 modules: Mathematics, Java Programming, Statistics or Project Skills for STEM. The Project Skills for STEM module covers elements of Excel data skills, MATLAB programming, academic writing skills and project supervision.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree in Maths, Computer Science, Physical Sciences or Engineering. (Essential). A Master’s qualification is required to teach on the pre-masters programmes.
  • Teaching qualification (Desirable).
  • Experience in teaching Maths or Engineering or Science at level 4 or above. (Essential)
  • Assessment marking experience at a minimum of level 4 (Essential)
  • Experience in working with international students (Desirable)
  • Competence in teaching and administrative IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, etc.)
  • The ability to work within a Virtual Learning Environment (Essential)
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB and LaTeX is desirable.
