The Department Civil Engineering & Built Environment seeks to appoint a Research Assistant to work on an Innovate UK funded research project focusing on developing low carbon cement for decarbonising foundation industries by recycling CCR and other industrial waste available in the UK and India. You must hold a Doctoral level qualification, or be near to completion, in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject, such as Materials. In addition, you must have an up-to-date understanding of concrete technology and use of cement replacement materials is required, with experience in laboratory based investigations desirable. A strong background in material chemistry would be highly beneficial.
The position will require you to contribute to the analysis of researchdataasdirected, liaise regularly with the principal investigator about progress and to assist in the development of progress reports and lead writing of scientific papers. In addition you will be expected to have experience of / the capability to develop skills in relevant research methodologies, particularly in relation to methodologies and software for the processing and interpretation of laboratory data.
This position requires a highly motivated individual capable of ensuring that project objectives are met and managed and that deliverables meet their deadlines. Enthusiasm and passion are essential as well as good organisational, interpersonal / communication skills along with independent and team working skills.
