The Finance, Planning and Data Insight section is responsible for managing the University's income and expenditure, ensuring we get value for money in all financial activity and that we comply with all statutory and regulatory requests. Our responsibility extends to the collection and sharing of information and understanding to help the University achieve its strategic aims.
The post of Finance Business Partner Trainee, is a great opportunity for candidates, including at graduate level, who have a passion for finance, seeking their first role in their career. The successful candidate will join a high performing, talented and professional team, responsible for providing high quality Business Partner support to the Registrar and Secretary, Directors of Sections and other budget holders within Professional Services. In addition, the team also provides information to influence strategic decision making, reviews processes with a view to eliminate inefficiencies, as well as the preparation and ongoing monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts across Professional Services.
Duties of the Role
The post holder will assist in the provision of financial advice and support to a designated portfolio of Professional Services Sections.
Duties will include reviewing process with a view to eliminate inefficiencies; encouraging effective use of resources to support the University’s strategic plan and supporting strategies; and assisting in the preparation, production, profiling and monitoring of annual budgets and monthly management accounts.
Qualifications and Skills required
Applicants will be educated to GCSE level, and possess at least 4 GCSE Grade C/Grade 4 (standard pass) or above, or equivalent, including English and Mathematics.
The successful candidate will build upon their current basic knowledge of budgeting and forecasting, developing the essential skills required to pursue potential opportunities in the future as a Finance Business Partner.
In addition, the University will support the Professional Development in the role by funding study towards AAT (or equivalent) or CCAB qualifications through the use of the apprenticeship levy.
