We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in Computational Contact Mechanics to join a team of researchers focused on investigation of temperature and rate dependent frictional contact aimed for execution within simulations implemented to operate on high performance computing (HPC) platforms for high-performance aerospace applications. The successful candidate will become a member of the Impact and Shock Mechanics Team, an integral part of Solid Mechanics and Materials Engineering Group at the Department of Engineering Science (University of Oxford Begbroke Science Park). The post is funded for a fixed-term of 2 years in the first instance.

You will have a doctorate (Ph.D/D.Phil) in a relevant discipline (e.g. Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or Mathematics) or be very near to completion and demonstrable excellent computer programming skills (e.g. MATLAB, C/C++, Python, FORTRAN). Demonstrable knowledge and research experience in the development of algorithms and numerical modelling is also required. (full details can be found on the job description).
