About the Role
This is an exciting industrial project funded by Innovate UK. The post will be focused on developing energy management system for simple manoeuvring of small marine boats powered by H2-fuelled Free-Piston Electric Generator.
For the RA post, knowledge and experience in model-based control development and reinforcement learning are required as well as experience with dSPACE hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulators. It is essential to have a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Experience with modelling the marine vessels and maneuvering would be desirable for this post.
For the PDRA role you must have PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on control engineering and power engineering, or with a focus on reinforcement learning. Experience in model-based control development and dSPACE hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulators is essential. Relevant experience in reinforcement learning, or reinforcement learning-based model predictive control, is also required for this role.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 5 months or until 30 March 22 (whichever is shorter), with a possibility of further extension. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £32,087 – £33,824 per annum for the RA post. The starting salary range will be Grade 4/5 £34,733 - £45,479 per annum for the PDRA post, inclusive of London Allowance.
