The School has an excellent reputation for teaching and research in health and social care. Our academic members of staff include nurses, allied health care professionals, social workers, psychologists and sociologists. The School is run across two campuses, based at Southend and Colchester.
Duties of the Role
The Education Manager will be responsible for supporting the School’s academic standards and quality function, with a focus on providing leadership and management for academic provision including non-standard degree apprenticeships, CPD and Education pathways. This will include the line management of relevant staff. As the School’s administrative lead in this area, you will be expected to develop and maintain key knowledge related to all areas of specialist provision, updating the School Manager and Head of School on key developments in these areas. You will also be expected to develop and implement policies and procedures in relation to the effective operation of all specialist courses in collaboration with the School Executive Team.
In addition, the post-holder will work closely with the Director of Education and Deputy Dean’s for Education, to support key projects and initiatives to review and enhance learning and teaching approaches within the School across all provision, and to promote student engagement and support, with a focus on enhancing the student experience and improving student satisfaction.
The Education Manager will also be responsible for the accuracy of the School’s course and module records, including maintaining accurate records of new course and module approvals, and working closely with the School’s Operations Manager overseeing the review and update of existing courses and modules via the annual update process.
Skills and qualifications required
Applicants will be expected to have a degree or equivalent qualification professional experience and will have significant and relevant administrative experience in a complex and challenging role, including developing and implementing administrative policies and procedures.
A broad understanding of Higher Education, including quality assurance mechanisms, and professional body accreditation and high-level numeracy skills, with experience of processing and checking large amounts of data e.g. exam marks are essential for this post.
