The South-East Physics Network – SEPnet – is a network of nine universities working together to deliver excellence in physics. It formed in 2008 and is overseen by senior representatives of the member universities and external advisors. The SEPnet programme is delivered by a team of four: Executive Director, Director of Employer Liaison, Director of Outreach and Public Engagement, and GRADnet Manager.
SEPnet is seeking to appoint a new Director of Employer Liaison to work across our network of nine universities. The post can be based at any of our member universities. The role is preferentially 1.0 FTE but we are open to discussing options for part-time, job share or flexible working.
The Director of Employer Liaison will actively engage with industry to develop closer links between physical science departments in the South East Physics Network and national and regional employers of Physics graduates (both undergraduate and post graduate) and graduates of closely related disciplines, with the aim of increasing their employability, facilitating knowledge exchange and sustaining Physics as a strategically important subject for the UK economy and its science base in the South East Region of England. They will lead the team of SEPnet Employability Advisors responsible for the delivery of the collaborative regional Employer Engagement programme of the South East Physics Network under the guidance of the Executive Director and Chair of SEPnet. The Director of Employer Liaison will manage the annual SEPnet summer placement scheme and the SEPnet Employer Advisory Group and continue to develop links with appropriate national and regional bodies including the IOP and WRIPA.
