Location: College Lane Campus, University of Hertfordshire, with the option of some flexible working

Academic Services is a team of professional staff within Academic Registry who support the Centre for Academic Quality Assurance, the administration of Research Degrees within the Doctoral College and the administration of Degree Apprenticeships for the wider University. 

We are currently recruiting for an Academic Services Administrator to support the administration of all research degree students.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The post holder will be required to demonstrate proven administrative skills to support the administration of Research Degrees, the Academic Services Team and the Director of the Doctoral College.  You will be working closely with Research Degree students as well as academic colleagues within the Doctoral College

You will act as clerk to any designated meetings, assist with the development and implementation of administrative procedures for research students and assist will all matters relating to the admission, enrolment and student record keeping of research students.

Skills and experience

Applicants should be highly motivated, proactive, flexible to requirements and enthusiastic individuals.  Accuracy and attention to detail are key requirements within this role.

You will have relevant administrative experience in a complex and dynamic organisation, and experience of working in Higher Education administration is desirable.

Your application will evidence good IT skills and that you are numerate and literate. You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of customer care with a polite, helpful and confident telephone manner. The ability to collect, process and present complex data is key.  Tact and diplomacy, with the ability to handle sensitive information with strict confidentiality is crucial.

You will be required to work flexibly and adaptably, being effective in a team setting, with a can-do attitude. You’ll have the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, processes and institutional culture and to be proactive in promoting change.

Qualifications required

A-levels (or equivalent qualification) or higher qualification or have proven professional work experience.
