About the role

We are seeking to appoint a Finance Assistant to support financial management in the Department of Biochemistry. This includes core departmental activity as well as supporting the pre/post-award management of Biochemistry’s diverse and extensive research grants and contracts portfolio.

About you

You will have the knowledge intellectual capacity, reasoning and analytical skills of a graduate or equivalent.  You will have experience of preparing financial reports, budgets and forecasts, implementing financial controls and audit procedures.  Experience of working with Microsoft Excel in order to create high quality reports is essential together with having a good knowledge of the use of IT with the ability to exchange information and data between a variety of office, financial and other resource management software. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are expected as well as having good organisational skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently and to be able to prioritise effectively.

This full time permanent post is funded by the department and is based at the Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3QU

This position is graded on the University’s Grade 5 scale. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
