Pembrokeshire College has an exciting opportunity for Tutor(s) to join our Hospitality Department, assisting learners with their skills and in the smooth running of our SEED Restaurant.  If you are interested in passing on your knowledge and experience to the next generation, or have an interest in moving into teaching, this is an excellent opportunity  (perhaps worked around current commitments) to gain experience and access to other working opportunities.

Salary Details:   £21,189 - £24,766 BAR £25,534 - £29,295 pro rata

This is an 8 point incremental scale with progression to each point on an annual basis with the opportunity to further progress on to an extended scale following the BAR.  Commencing salaries will be assessed in accordance with the College’s starting salaries matrix.

Hours of Work:   Up to Full-time - 37 hours per week 

Hours will be worked flexibility throughout the weekdays and will include evening work

Holiday Entitlement:    
28 days annual leave plus statutory public holidays per annum
Increase to 32 days annual leave following 5 full years of service

Qualifications: 

  • You will hold a level 3 Catering and Hospitality qualification in Professional Cooking or equivalent and/or relevant industry experience. Ideally, you will also have front of house experience.
  • Ideally you will hold a current First Aid Certificate and a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate. (If not held, you will be required to undertake and achieve within an agreed timescale)
  •  It is desirable but not essential to hold a Teaching  or training Qualification e.g. Award in Education and Training (AET).  If not held, this could be undertaken and achieved within the College

The successful candidates will have substantive and recent experience of working within a practical hospitality & catering environment.  Previous experience of assessing or training colleagues or apprentices would be an advantage but not essential.

Practical experience and knowledge of current and upcoming processes and innovations within the Hospitality & Catering industry is essential, with the ability to pass this on through innovative and creative learning experiences.  Applicants must be confident in their understanding of industry standards and be able to demonstrate a passion for keeping up to date with industry trends.

Please note: Successful candidates will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check prior to commencing work (this is to be paid for by the individual at a cost of £40).

With effect from 1st April 2016 all FE Support Workers in Wales are required to register with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), prior to commencing employment (this is to be paid for by the  individual  at a cost of £15).

  • Yn ddelfrydol, bydd gennych Dystysgrif Cymorth Cyntaf cyfredol a thystysgrif Hylendid Bwyd Lefel 2. (Os heb y rhain, bydd gofyn i chi eu cyflawni o fewn amserlen y cytunwyd arni)
  • Mae'n ddymunol ond nid yw'n hanfodol bod â chymhwyster dysgu neu hyfforddi e.e. Dyfarniad mewn Addysg a Hyfforddiant (AET). Os heb gymhwyster felly, gellid cyflawni hyn yn y Coleg
