UKCISA provides membership services – including advice, training and policy guidance – to nearly 500 members and direct support services to thousands of international students each year. Our diverse membership includes every public university in the UK, many private universities and further education colleges, independent schools and students' unions.
UKCISA is seeking a pro-active, enthusiastic, motivated policy officer with a keen interest in the international student experience.
This is an exciting time to join UKCISA and this brand new role recognises UKCISA’s expanding and increasingly high-profile lobbying and advocacy work in international education policy.
This important role offers the right candidate a fantastic opportunity to support and shape how UKCISA delivers its policy work in line with its strategic plan 2020-23.
The role will monitor and disseminate policy, research and media activity related to the international student experience in the four UK nations and will lead on policy areas outside of immigration policy. This includes preparing policy briefings and reports and drafting copy for blogs and media platforms. In addition the role will manage UKCISA’s research and policy information on the UKCISA website and support primary research by UKCISA and its members and partners.
The role reports to the Director of Member Services and Policy but will work closely with the CEO, the Advice and Training team and liaise with the newly formed Engagement and Partnerships Team.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, and the ability to write to inform and influence different audiences. They will have experience of policy/communications/public affairs work and strong analytical skills, with experience of analysing qualitative and quantitative information and data to provide insight to external and internal audiences. They will have excellent attention to detail, and the ability to produce accurate work at pace.
