Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to work in the group of Dr Derek Macmillan in the Department of Chemistry at University College London. This EPSRC-funded position is available immediately and until 31st August 2022 in the first instance, working in the field of synthetic chemistry and chemical biology.
The post holder will build on preceding studies, to develop novel amino acids, enabling site-specific protein targeting and bioconjugation using orthogonal tRNA/RNA synthetase pairs. The project will further aim to explore new approaches to protein glycosylation and neoglycosylation.
The successful candidate will have a PhD degree (or be about to be awarded a PhD) in Chemical Biology or a related area, and possess knowledge and experience in organic synthesis and protein/peptide chemistry.
Please note, appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary £32,217 to £33,958 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
