We are currently inviting applications for a PhD in Business funded by the Economic and Social Research Council as part of the South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) Doctoral Training Partnership.

Henley Business School at the University of Reading is at the forefront of cutting-edge research on several themes within finance, management, accounting, real estate and business informatics. Alongside our offer of a number of internally-funded PhD scholarships, we are currently inviting applications from excellent UK/EU students for an ESRC-funded PhD in Business through South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS [http://www.reading.ac.uk/graduateschool/funding-and-fees/gs-senss-info.aspx/]) Doctoral Training Partnership.

We invite applications from strong candidates (Masters) with research interests relevant to the SeNSS Business Management Pathway and showing a real drive to join Henley through a carefully prepared application package.

As a key component is represented by the research proposal, we suggest you verify that your interest lies within the expertise of academic staff in your area. We also expect you to work hard towards your proposal, so you can demonstrate your academic potential to carry out independent research.

Funding Details:  

  • Tuition fees, UKRI stipend and application access to funding for training, travel, fieldwork and overseas visits
  • Starts October 2022
  • 4-year awards available depending on project and researcher experience/qualifications
  • Open to applications from candidates without a Master’s qualification
  • Available full- or part-time

ESRC SeNSS funding covers tuition fees at the Home rate and the University of Reading will cover the difference between Home and International fees. All awards are open to candidates wishing to study part-time.  Applications from candidates without a Master’s degree and from groups under-represented in doctoral study are encouraged.

Application Deadline: 

Early application is strongly encouraged.  Applications will be accepted up to 25 January 2022.

Applicants must apply for a place of admission at the University Reading by 14 January 2022.

Applications for SeNSS funding through the HEIApply platform must be completed by 12 noon on 25 January 2022.
