The Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit (PCTU) leads and supports clinical trials in which the primary question of interest relates to informing clinical and policy decision making.

The PCTU is located within the Centre for Evaluation and Methods (CEM) within the newly formed Wolfson Institute for Population Health (WIPH). Staff within CEM conduct methods research in a range of areas.

WIPH brings together some of the UK’s leading researchers, practitioners and educators in a vibrant, multidisciplinary group with the aim of delivering world-leading research and education to inform and support local, national and global primary care and public health.

About You

We are looking for a highly experienced and innovative statistician with an international reputation in clinical trials, to lead and promote trial-related methodological research and lead the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit. You will have an excellent academic and publication record with ambitious plans for future research, including facilitating high quality research. You will also have experience of leadership within a UK clinical trials unit, the ability to manage budgets, and a clear aptitude for strategy, and staff development and motivation. The role will include expert statistical input to groups affiliated with the unit to enable a strong pipeline of grant applications from these groups. You will be expected to contribute to the strategic direction of the Centre and to teaching within the Centre and Institute as required.
