Applications are invited for an Assistant/Associate Professorship (University Lecturer/Senior Lecturer) to be held jointly between the Department of Genetics and the Department of Physiology Development and Neuroscience at the interface of genetics and developmental biology. We are searching for a talented individual with a track record in research and commitment to teaching. The post is available from 1st October 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The departments offer a world class research and teaching environment with considerable strength in developmental biology (https://www.gen.cam.ac.uk/research-groups https://www.pdn.cam.ac.uk/research).

We particularly welcome applications from individuals with research programmes that have a strong focus on whole animal, in vivo approaches. For example, harnessing genetic approaches to whole organism developmental biology through integrating discoveries in human genetics with fundamental questions in animal development; using model organism systems as discovery engines for uncovering basic developmental processes; applying insights from functional or comparative genomics to developmental processes; deploying approaches in multicellular in vitro systems to elaborate genetic frameworks for tissue or organ development.

The successful applicants will have a PhD in a relevant subject area and show strong evidence of leading a successful research programme. Applicants will also have an aptitude and enthusiasm for teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and will be expected to contribute to the teaching and other academic activities in both Departments. The successful applicant will be motivated to contribute to the rationalisation of developmental biology teaching in both Departments, and more widely in the School of Biological Sciences, including the design and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate lecture courses, examinations and other forms of assessment.

Appointment will be based on merit alone. As a signatory of DORA (https://sfdora.org/) the University is committed to assessing research on its own merits rather than on the basis of the journal in which it is published.
