About ARU:
Anglia Ruskin is a vibrant workplace and our university is gaining prominence both nationally and internationally. We have ambitious plans for the future and we are determined that our students and staff will realise their full potential. Our main campuses in the cities of Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough have been transformed with major capital investment. With an annual turnover of over £200m, we are a major force for higher education and one of the largest universities in the East of England.

About the role:
StoryLab is a dynamic, award winning interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to increasing creativity and accessibility in storytelling and demonstrating its transformational potential. We interrogate and experiment with multimodal storytelling, immersive technology and diverse perspectives, to create original narrative experiences, and investigate their impact on individuals and society.

We are seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to and undertake documentary driven immersive storytelling. The Research Fellow will be involved on a range of film and immersive experience (XR) practice-led projects involving iterative prototyping, dissemination and evaluation. This includes an investigation into social impact-driven immersive experiences and storytelling as well as bid writing and conducting literature reviews.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD or near completion or other post-graduate research qualification in narrative/documentary-led Creative Media, Film Production or similar. Although based in Cambridge they must be willing to travel as required by the job. The candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of the documentary and immersive storytelling landscape, emerging media and techniques applicable to the research area. Our projects include collaborative work with a range of partners across our main research themes including: Human Creativity, Design and Technology; Cultural Heritage and Identity; and Safe and Resilient Communities. The candidate will therefore be required to engage in teamwork and have a flexible and enthusiastic approach.

It is expected that interviews will take place either in person or online (depending on university policy at the time) w/c 17th of January 2022. The ideal candidate will ideally be in place during February 2022.

Informal enquiries can be made to John Bickley, Business Manager, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; John.Bickley@aru.ac.uk.
