We are seeking an outstanding individual to lead our new Centre for Digital Transformation (CDT). The role of the Centre is to develop a digital portfolio of degree and other taught programmes across our academic Institutes.

The Director will lead on digital transformation of our academic offer and will work across the University, with colleagues in our Academic Institutes and Professional Services, to develop a joined approach to digital transformation of our courses and graduates.

The Centre has four areas of focus:

  1. Developing new digital programmes and enhancing the digital nature of existing courses.
  2. Developing work-focused digital capabilities for graduates.
  3. Developing a portfolio of employer- and employee-focused programmes to enhance digital performance of businesses and other organisations, and to develop a more digitally capable workforce.
  4. Developing digital capability and capacity in communities and residents, with a particular focus on places that are digitally excluded or under-provided. 

The Director will lead on these areas for the University, working closely with colleagues to build a stronger digital community across the University. The CDT will engage externally as well, with employers and employees as well as wider networks. An overall aim will be to establish the University’s reputation as an innovator in, and from, digital higher education nationally.

You will establish and manage a team within the CDT as well enabling new programme development and digital transformation across the University’s Institutes and research centres.

You will have an outstanding track record of innovation and leadership in higher education and an understanding of how to digitally transform the university’s programme offer. You will be expected to work collaboratively across the University and with local partners, businesses including SMEs, and stakeholder organisations. An interest in developing a research foundation for the Centre would be attractive.

The founding Director of the University’s Centre for Digital Transformation will lead on the digital development of the University of Cumbria and will be a lead expert within the University and across the sector in digital transformation.
