Are you seeking experience in a University teaching hospital?
Do you have a passion for soft tissue surgery, teaching and/or research?
The Department of Veterinary Medicine wishes to appoint a soft tissue surgeon to join our experienced team of ECVS diplomats for maternity cover. We are keen to hear from individuals who might be interested in working with us for the full duration of maternity cover (12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever comes first) as well as those that may be interested in working with us for a shorter period.
This is an opportunity to work in a well-equipped, multidisciplinary referral hospital, with a positive team spirit and a friendly, enthusiastic working environment. The soft tissue caseload is varied and interesting, with a particular emphasis on oncological surgery, brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome and urology. Support with case management is available from within the team and from other services in the Department.
The role primarily involves the provision of clinical services within the hospital, alongside teaching and supervision of Senior Clinical Training Scholars, Junior Clinical Training Scholars and Students with the opportunity to develop clinical research interests. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in the out of hours rota, for which a non-pensionable allowance is payable.
Applicants should have significant experience in a Small Animal Hospital environment, have attained or be eligible to sit the examination for the Diploma of the European or American College of Veterinary Surgery, and have a veterinary degree registerable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
We offer a supportive and engaging environment with generous paid annual leave (41 days including the public holidays). In addition, we are able to provide competitive staff benefits and services, including family friendly policies, numerous discounts on shopping, health care, financial services, and public transport, and offer defined benefits pension schemes.
