The post

The College wishes to recruit a Graduate Research Assistant to support the work of Dr Sandra Kröger. This University funded post is available from 1 March 2022 to 30 June 2022. The successful applicant will research existing relevant legislation touching upon select aspects of digital democracy and document it in writing. They will support a workshop of the team and also identify relevant on-going projects as well as grant proposals. 

The post will include undertaking an extensive literature review prior to a workshop in the second half of May, identifying strengths and gaps of the existing literature as well as existing regulation on online free speech, hate speech, disinformation, censorship and data privacy in select European states and the US; documenting respective regulation in a data set; identifying good practice; helping with any organisational aspects that might arise around the workshop as well as taking notes during the workshop and drafting the workshop report; helping identify suitable funders.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will be educated to first degree level in Politics, Law, or a neighbouring discipline, or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience, and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will have very good knowledge of relevant literatures and be able to summarise relevant debates. Applicants will be able to use mainstream computer technology and software.
