The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at De Montfort University educates and develops professionals who make a significant difference to people’s lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society. It is home to the Leicester School of Allied Health Sciences in which this post will be based.

Role

This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in academia at De Montfort University. We are seeking an early career academic that is ready to develop in higher education – to use their clinical skills and experience to develop the next generation of Audiologists. You would work as part of a growing team, supporting the range of programmes in Audiology, particularly with our apprenticeship courses that meet the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education Apprenticeship standards.

You would be instrumental to the innovation, design and development of the practical training aspects of the course and would oversee four dedicated audiology practical spaces. Your role would include reviewing new equipment to enhance the student learning, maintaining equipment and supporting academic staff to deliver practical training and teaching as well as supporting students/staff engaged in research activities. There will be several vital tasks in this role that will support you to network across the private and public sector. The role is new and will support your development in academia and audiology.

Ideal Candidate

Candidates must have a BSc in Audiology or Healthcare Science (Audiology) degree and have at least 2 years clinical experience in Audiology. Some experience in teaching and training is important, this can be with a placement student or other practical training with colleagues within a department or through formal or informal tutoring. You should ideally be registered or have the potential to be registered with a relevant body (HCPC and/or AHS). You need to have excellent communication and teamworking skills, be flexible and adaptable, willing to develop and committed to continuing professional development.
